Glenvista Baptist Church About Us

If there is anything that Glenvista Baptist Church wants to be known for, it is our dedication to the gospel and our desire to be a Christ-centred church. We are convinced from Scripture that the gospel is what brings people to the realisation that they need God through the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ.

The gospel therefore not only plays a pivotal part in our faithfulness to bring others to Christ, but also in our own personal walk with God. The gospel helps us to see our utter dependence on God frame by frame and shows us where we must change. It is our joy to practically live the gospel and see how God by means of His Grace, uses it to transform every aspect of our lives.

We are also committed to systematic expository preaching. This is a method of preaching that allows the church to be exposed to a specific book of the Bible in its entirety. We have found that this systematic approach to preaching aids understanding and learning tremendously.

Lastly, we want to be known as a church that has love for one another. We strive to prove this in the way we serve one another in love.

Our Sunday service times are:

Morning service: 09:00
Sunday School: 08:15
Evening Bible study: 17:30

We meet at:
17 Vallot Street, Glenvista, Extension 4

What to expect

Adults

We would like to encourage you to make use of both our Sunday services. On Sunday mornings we meet at 09:00 for our morning service, which involves systematic expository preaching from a particular passage in the Bible. This is also accompanied by a time of worshipping God in song, in giving and in prayer. Evenings take a different slant and are more interactive, as they take the form of a Bible study in which questions are welcomed. Our evening worship commences at 17:30 and finishes at 19:00.  All are welcome, and secure parking is available on our premises. You should be able to find a parking spot on either side of the church building.

Children

During the school term there is Sunday School for children ages 3–13. Children are encouraged to attend these classes. Children are also welcome to attend the main preaching service, especially over the school holidays.

We use a systematic curriculum in our Sunday School called Generations of Grace that enables us to take our children from Genesis through Revelation in a three-year period, meaning our children typically would have received all of God’s Word systematically over a period of three years.
